On Friday, March 20th, acclaimed chefs Barbara Lynch and Lydia Shire host a once-in-a-lifetime evening celebrating a decade of Boston's only Relais & Chateaux restaurant, Menton.
Never someone to shy away from a challenge, Barbara opened Menton in a recession in the then-sleepy neighborhood of Fort Point in 2010. 10 years and countless dishes later, Menton has made an indelible mark on the fine dining landscape of Boston. Now entering it's 11th year, Menton has truly hit it's stride.
Though she needs no introduction, Lydia Shire was one of Boston's pioneering chefs. She has won countless awards, including a James Beard Foundation recognition as Best Chef Northeast and Who's Who of Food & Beverage. Lydia was the chef at Maison Robert in the mid '70s, a time when women were scarce in fine dining French restaurants, nevermind running their kitchens. She later took over Boston's historic Locke-Ober, a place where women were once not allowed to eat in the downstairs dining room. Her kitchens have been a training ground for Boston's top culinary talent, truly paving the way for our restaurant community as we know it. Lydia's lauded restaurant in the Liberty Hotel, Scampo was awarded Best New Restaurant when it opened in 2008 and is still going strong after 12 years later.
